Introducing The Backroom
A New Private Wing of .WAV Gallery
As .WAV Gallery continues to evolve from its origins as a thoughtful window into OGD’s world toward a more expansive cultural publication, The Backroom represents a confident next step. It deepens our editorial palette, broadens our storytelling scope, and offers members a closer connection to the pulse of NYC nightlife.
Here, you’ll find post‑event insights, behind‑the‑scenes perspectives, and intimate profiles of DJs. It’s designed for listeners who want the thinking, the atmosphere, and the meaning behind the tracks. The Backroom is the most direct way to stay ahead of what’s moving in NYC’s underground and to experience this world with clarity, intention, and insider insight.
The Curator’s Crates will remain the gallery’s only publicly accessible section, continuing as the monthly guide to must‑hear music and cultural highlights curated by OGD.
The First Backroom Feature - Launching Tuesday, March 24
The Backroom opens with a spotlight on J.N.R., the London-born, Atlanta-raised, Brooklyn-based DJ whose sound fuses 15 years of classical training with a lifelong devotion to the UK dance continuum and global club culture. She’s also a community-builder dedicated to uplifting femme DJs and shaping inclusive, dancer-centered spaces across NYC through platforms like OnlyFemmes and her work behind the scenes with Village Hidden in Vinyl and blueshift.
Our feature explores both her creative practice and the day job that informs her presence in the city’s nightlife. It’s the kind of story that illustrates how artists balance work, passion, and community. This is exactly the kind of deeper cultural context The Backroom is built to share.
